An amazing story of the Love Life network working together to save a baby’s life transpired last week. Our team was faithfully serving on the sidewalk when a Hispanic couple who was very conflicted agreed to go on the mobile ultrasound unit parked in front of the abortion center. This unit is sent by HELP Pregnancy Center, who partners with Love Life.
The woman spoke no English. Praise God, a friend of the ministry happened to be on the sidewalk that day who speaks Spanish. She went on board the ultrasound unit with our Love Life counselor and the mobile ultrasound unit nurse.
The main concern was that the abortion minded couple were from a different state and needed a lot of help. In the past, people had promised help, and then the help never materialized. Therefore, they were skeptical that our ministry would truly help them, particularly as they lived several hours away. The counselor called me asking if we had anyone in their specific city.
I, in turn, called Anna, Love Life National Coordinator, and asked her if we had anyone we could contact in that city. I told her this was an emergency since the life of the baby hinged on the assurance of whether we really could help this mom or not. She said, “On it!”
After a little research, she found that a brand new House of Refuge church had just signed on with Love Life, and they were half an hour from this woman! Anna spoke with the pastor immediately, and the church eagerly agreed to help this couple. At the time, none of us realized that the mom only spoke Spanish because I had not realized that when I called Anna.
Knowing that the woman choosing life was contingent on the assurance of help, Anna also realized that quickly finding her a mentor was crucial. She began making calls. Amazingly, she found one, and we were able to let this mother know that we had a mentor for her!
I only discovered later that the mom only spoke Spanish. I was astounded to find out that the mentor Anna had assigned to this woman spoke Spanish! What a blessed miracle of God!
As if all of this was not enough joy for one day, the Gospel was presented to this couple. They both submitted their lives to the Lord! Our wonderful sidewalk outreach team went on to have three confirmed babies saved that day.
When the body of Christ rises up together and helps each other to promote the plans of God, miracles abound. Had the sidewalk outreach team not been there, or the Pregnancy Center Mobile Unit, or the Spanish speaking friend, or the ultrasound nurse, or Anna, or the House of Refuge Church, or the willing mentor…the woman might have aborted her child, and this couple would not have surrendered their lives to Jesus.
But the CHURCH was there.
