Is Our Hope on the Ballot?

Watch Is Our Hope on the Ballot?

The midterm elections are just a week away. Only God knows how the results will change the balance of power, and many of us have legitimate concerns about what those changes could mean for biblical values, especially the protection of our preborn neighbors.

We should take those concerns seriously. In Jeremiah 29:7, God calls His people to seek the welfare of the city where He has placed them. That responsibility should move us to pray, to vote, and to support candidates most likely to uphold biblical values and protect innocent life.

But as we approach Election Day, we need to remember where our hope has always been.

Our hope was never coming from Washington. Our hope is in Jesus Christ.

An election can change who holds office. It cannot change who sits on the throne. Jesus is still Lord, His promises still stand, and His Church still has a calling.

In Matthew 16:18, Jesus declared that the gates of hell would not prevail against His Church. That promise does not depend on which party controls Congress. Politicians will come and go, campaigns will end, and promises will fade. But the Church of Jesus Christ will remain.

And we are here for a purpose.

Jesus called us the salt of the earth and a city set on a hill. We are called to shine His light, carry His truth, and love the neighbors He has placed before us. His hope is made visible through His people as we enter hard places with courage, compassion, and faith.

That includes the places where preborn children are losing their lives and mothers are facing desperate circumstances. We cannot expect politicians in Washington to do what the Church will not first do: show up, love our neighbors, and walk alongside families who need us.

Whatever happens on November 3, that calling will still be ours on November 4 and beyond.

And on Saturday, November 14, we have an opportunity to answer it together.

At the Celebrate Life Prayer Walk, hundreds of churches and thousands of believers in cities across the nation will unite in prayer, worship, and the proclamation of truth. We will walk in faith, asking God to move so that moms choose life, abortion workers leave the industry, and abortion facilities close for His glory.

If you are worried about the election, let that concern move you to prayer and faithful obedience. Jesus has given His Church a vital mission to fulfill, and He has not left us to do it alone.
