Many of you that follow our ministry are agreeing together in prayer with us for all of those involved in abortion. That of course includes the moms and the dads, but it also includes those that work in the abortion industry. Through the prayers of the church and the faithful work of our Sidewalk Outreach volunteers, amazing stories like this take place.
In Harrisburg, PA, the Sidewalk Outreach team had spoken several times with the boyfriend of an abortion worker. He was the one who drove his girlfriend to the Planned Parenthood where she worked. At first, their words seemed to fall on hard ground, but the team persisted. Finally, one day he told them his girlfriend no longer wanted to work there.
They gave him Love Life literature and urged him to encourage his girlfriend to visit abortionworker.com, a website Abby Johnson maintains to help abortion workers leave the industry. The team told him they were eager to walk with the couple as they sought to follow God and step away from the work that results in the death of innocent babies.
A few weeks later, the boyfriend told the team his girlfriend had called Abby Johnson’s ministry. Progress! The team continued to pray and encourage the couple over the next several weeks. Then came the long-awaited reward. One day, after being dropped off by her boyfriend as usual, the worker came back out an hour later.
“Can we help you to find new work? Can we pray with you?” the team called out to her.
She shyly told them she had already secured another job that would start in two weeks.
“Praise God! You are doing the right thing in God’s eyes!” the team said, rejoicing in the news. They asked her, “Do you know the Lord?”
“Yes, He is with me,” she answered, pulling a Bible out of her purse.
We rejoice with the faithful Pennsylvania team and are grateful for their perseverance. Stories like this remind us that the battle belongs to the Lord, and we are called to endure through disappointments and times of apparent futility. God is with us!
“Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’”
