When we first shared Christina’s story, it was about the moment she encountered the Church outside an abortion center and made the courageous decision to choose life. But what happened next may be even more powerful , because it shows what it looks like when the Church becomes not just a voice, but a family.
After Christina chose life, she and her husband Joey faced the daily challenges that come with raising a large family while navigating financial strain and the uncertainty of the future. But thanks to the Church that had been praying for her before she ever knew their names, she didn’t have to walk that road alone.
The believers who had been there that day didn’t disappear. They stepped in.
Christina was quickly connected to mentors from Destiny Church, a local Love Life House of Refuge church, Joyce and her husband, Bill. They didn’t just check in; they entered into Christina’s life in a deeply personal way. Joyce became a constant source of encouragement, wisdom, and love. Before baby Westley was born, the church even threw Christina a beautiful baby shower to bless her and her growing family.
When Christina went into labor earlier than expected, Joyce was in the delivery room with her, standing by her side as Westley came into the world. It was a powerful picture of what happens when the Church shows up in love.
As Christina and Joey prepared to welcome their seventh child, one major need became clear: reliable transportation. With Joey working long hours and a growing family to care for, the lack of a dependable vehicle was putting a serious strain on their ability to get to work, appointments, and church.
That’s when the Church stepped up again.
With guidance from Joyce and Bill, and through the generosity of financial partners across the country, Love Life raised the funds to purchase a van for Christina’s family. Bill worked tirelessly to find just the right vehicle for them, something safe, spacious, and reliable for a family of nine. It wasn’t just a vehicle , it was freedom. It was provision. It was a symbol of what happens when the Church commits to walking with moms beyond the choice for life.
Christina’s story reminds us that being pro-life doesn’t end when a mom walks out of an abortion clinic. In many ways, that’s when the real journey begins. Choosing life is just the first chapter. The Church is called to be present for the rest of the story.
Today, Christina is thriving. She’s still connected to Destiny Church, the same church that first reached her. She’s a mom who knows she’s not alone. And her van? It’s not just a ride , it’s a reminder of how God provides through His people.
This is what it looks like when the Church becomes a true House of Refuge. It’s not a program. It’s a lifestyle. A commitment. A calling.
Let’s keep showing up. Let’s keep building a culture of LOVE and LIFE , one story, one mom, one miracle at a time.
