If there is one word that describes Patty, it is faithful.
For years, Patty has stood on the sidewalk outside abortion centers in South Florida, faithfully showing up to offer prayer, hope, and the truth of the gospel in a place marked by death and despair. Week after week she returned, not knowing what fruit God might bring, but trusting that obedience matters.
One day, that faithfulness met a woman named Maria.*
Maria was walking toward the doors of Astra Women’s Center in South Florida, planning to end the life of her unborn child. But standing on that sidewalk was Patty.
Patty shared the gospel and offered hope in the name of Jesus.
Maria chose life and left that awful place.
Maria’s story is just one example of the countless lives that have been saved through Patty’s faithfulness on that sidewalk.
What Patty could not have known in that moment was just how significant that rescue would be.
Maria’s baby would become the final baby rescued before the Lord shut the doors of that abortion center for good. For four years, Love Life partnering churches and outreach teams had faithfully prayed on that very sidewalk, asking God to end abortion there and close that center down.
One day, those prayers were answered.
The doors closed.
But God was not finished writing the story.
Today that same building is no longer a place of death.
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it.” (John 1:5)
The building has been renamed The Plan for Parenthood and now serves as the Love Life Broward County office. The Church purchased and now occupies the former abortion center.
Earlier this year, the story came full circle.
Maria returned to that same building, not in desperation, but for a job interview. She was hired and is now providing for her family. The baby she once nearly aborted is now a thriving toddler, and Maria is walking with the Lord.
From abortion center to ministry headquarters.
From death to life.
From despair to discipleship.
From rescue to restoration.
Only God could orchestrate something this magnificent.
Patty rejoices in what God has done. Yet she has recently faced significant health challenges and has had to step back from the sidewalk for a season.
But her heart has not changed.
She keeps telling Ezra Deane, the Love Life Florida Director, “I have to get back in the fight.”
Patty understands something many believers forget.
Faithfulness is never wasted.
Because of her obedience, countless children are alive today. Mothers have encountered the love of Christ. Families have been changed forever.
The Church prayed faithfully for four years. Patty showed up faithfully week after week.
God honored that faithfulness.
A child is alive.
A mother is walking with Christ.
And the building that once ended lives is now advancing the gospel of life.
This is what God can do through someone who simply keeps showing up.
