The Church’s Fight for Life Began 2,000 Years Ago

This past Sunday, we celebrated the greatest truth in history: Jesus Christ is alive. Death has been defeated once and for all. That changes not just our eternity but how we live right now.

The resurrection is not just the start of a movement. It is the cornerstone of the Church, both then and now. From the very beginning, the Church has existed because Jesus rose from the grave. That truth is what the first believers gave their lives for, and it’s what still fuels the Church today. Across the world, believers are rising in that same resurrection power to confront the spirit of death still at work in our culture.

Nowhere is that fight more urgent than in the battle to end abortion. Our motivation is not political or driven by fear. It comes from the life Jesus secured. Because He lives, we stand with courage. Because He rose, we rise with purpose. The Church is stepping up to bring life where death has ruled too long.

Abortion is not just a cultural issue. It is a spiritual battle. It thrives on fear, shame, and the lie that ending a life is the only option. But Jesus didn’t come to manage darkness. He came to overcome it. He didn’t come just to comfort us in death. He came to defeat it.

When Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in Me will live, even though they die” (John 11:25), He wasn’t offering future hope only. He was declaring His authority over death now. And that authority belongs to Him alone.

Scripture tells us, “The same power that raised Jesus from the dead lives in you” (Romans 8:11). That is not metaphor. That is reality.

We saw that power in Alyssa’s story. A few weeks ago, she drove four hours to Charlotte, homeless and abortion determined. She accidentally pulled into our parking lot, but God had a different plan. As she got out of her car, a Love Life sidewalk leader was there and began a conversation with her. That day, Alyssa chose life. She gave her heart to Jesus. And the Church is still walking with her, surrounding her with care, connecting her to a mentor, housing, and long-term support.

Alyssa’s story is one among thousands happening as churches rise up across the nation. This is resurrection power in action. Ordinary believers, filled with the Spirit, showing up and bringing life into dark places. Others are still waiting for someone to meet them with truth and love.

The Church is not powerless. We are not waiting on God to move. He already has. His power is alive in us. When we pray, serve, and speak with that power, death retreats.

The time is now. Let’s rise. Let’s take our place. Let’s carry the light of Jesus wherever death tries to win.
