High Places Are Falling but the Battle Is Not Over

In the past few weeks, news has come out that over two dozen Planned Parenthood facilities have already closed or will be closing their doors soon. Read more from Catholic News Agency. Many of these closures are taking place in states like California, Michigan, and Vermont, places often seen as strongholds for abortion. In one of our most difficult mission fields in the Bay Area of Northern California, five Planned Parenthood facilities are closing. The fact that even in these areas Planned Parenthood is pulling back speaks volumes. Planned Parenthood’s national office is pointing to recent funding cuts from the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” as the primary reason for the closures.

For years, these buildings stood as modern altars of death. Just like the high places of pagan sacrifice described in the Old Testament, they were sites where innocent lives were taken in the name of cultural convenience and false worship. The Church has prayed outside of them. The Church has fasted. The Church has asked God to bring down what man could not. And now, we are witnessing it. These are not just policy wins. These are spiritual victories. These are high places coming down.

But this is not the end of the story.

The truth is that abortion is still happening in every state in the nation. Women no longer need to walk into a clinic to end the life of their child. The abortion pill has made it possible to do so from their bedroom, kitchen table, or college dorm. Through telehealth services and online providers, abortion pills are now being shipped across state lines with little to no accountability. Shield laws in states like New York, California, and Massachusetts are protecting those who send these pills into places where abortion is restricted or even banned. Learn more from LifeNews.

So while the buildings may be shutting down, the battle is shifting. It is becoming more private, more digital, and in some ways, more dangerous. See Christian Post coverage.

That is why the Church cannot slow down. We cannot grow complacent or assume the fight is finished. The mission field is no longer just at the gates of clinics. It is in our neighborhoods, our schools, our churches, and our homes. We must keep praying. We must keep showing up. And we must keep offering something the abortion pill never can: real hope, real help, and the love of Christ.

Yes, we glory in the high places coming down. But we also rise to meet the next battle.

Because the light still has work to do.

If your church has not yet become a House of Refuge, now is the time. As the battle shifts, the Church must be ready to receive, support, and walk with families in crisis. Visit www.lovelife.org/refuge to learn how your church can become a refuge of hope and healing in this cultural moment.
