There’s something remarkable about a mother’s heart. It’s wired for compassion, rooted in strength, and willing to stand in the gap for those who need hope. Many of the leaders and volunteers who serve with Love Life are mothers themselves, women who know firsthand the preciousness of life. They don’t just fight for their own children; they stand on the front lines to defend life for others, week after week.
These mothers are the ones praying on the sidewalks, offering a listening ear, and embracing women in their moments of deepest need. Some of them serve as City Directors, mobilizing churches and leading prayer walks in their cities. Others are mentors who walk alongside women who have chosen life, providing support, encouragement, and the practical help they need to thrive. Sidewalk volunteers reach out to mothers entering abortion centers, offering hope, resources, and a path forward. And some serve through Restored Life, helping women and men find healing and redemption from past abortions.
One of those mothers is Sarah Turnowski, our faithful City Director in Central PA. Last year, she welcomed her baby girl, Moriah, into the world, and now she brings her out to the sidewalks to pray and minister to other mothers. Sarah’s heart for life is beautifully captured in a poem she wrote for this Mother’s Day, honoring all the mothers who fight for life, who love deeply, and who trust God through every season:
To all the mammas young and old, the ones still waiting on God’s promises foretold, the ones who have carried loss & pain, the empty nesters who look back on the days.
To all the mammas who have taken in young ones not their own and have rescued them from being alone. To all the mammas who have buried their child, never heard their heartbeat or see them run in the wild; to the ones who have sacrificed their lives to see their young ones thrive, have prayed with endless tears despite their fears.
To the ones who believed their baby would only be a burden but chose life over death despite the uncertain; the ones who were told their baby wouldn’t thrive or be born alive. The ones who walk this path alone, doing the job of two & working hard to make do.
All the mammas who have worshipped through the doubts and danced through the dark night, the Lord has been your strength and lifted your hands in the fight.
Your role carries honor and grace despite all that you face; your unseen is holy and wholly worthy of recognition. We pray that you feel honored today. And while your hand rocks the cradle and little feet run down the hall, please always remember just how sacred is your call.
This Mother’s Day, we celebrate you—the mothers who mother not just their own, but who mother a movement of life. Your legacy is love, and your impact is eternal.
Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at Love Life.
